Think: A powerful testimony was shown this weekend at Timberlake, a testimony of a near death experience.   The testimony was powerful because in the moment that the Doctor said "you need to say your goodbyes" our brother in Christ and his priorities became crystal clear. The prospect of no longer seeing those you love most, instantly puts the most important things on the top of the list; in this case Jesus and one's family.  He recounted that since that day in November, when it appeared there was no hope, that he remembered clearly what his two most important priority's are, his wife and his Savior Jesus Christ.

I don't wish this experience on anyone, but what a glorious result...A life prolonged with the clearest set of priorities imaginable.  It has caused me to think this week of how I am living each and every day God has granted me.  Is there anything I need to say that has gone unsaid heretofore?  Does my family know that I love them, and do I tell them regularly?  If my moments on earth were ending in the next few minutes what would I choose to say and do?

I have a lasting memory of my earthly father who regularly and without fail told me he loved me.  Whenever we ended a phone conversation, or I was bounding out the door, it was always concluded with the words "I love you." I am always surprised and saddened by the number of other men I meet who never heard these words from their dad.  I like to think that this expression of love from my father was near the top of his "bucket list", and I am forever thankful that he put a check next to that one.   During times of struggle and storm I could count on this when I could count on little else.

Read the comforting words and instruction in Matthew in today's devotional.

Maybe your dad never told you he loved you, but I can assure you Jesus wants to tell you that each and everyday.

Ask: If I only had a moment to live, what would I choose to do, to say?

Pray: Heavenly Father help me to establish my real priorities, help me to live them each and everday.  May those things that need to be said, be said. Those things that need to be done, be done. Allow your light to  shine  brightly this day and guide me with every step I take.  In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church.
