Daily Devotional: Friday, Jan 8
Speaker:Ben Sigman Theme: Expectations Weekend Music links on iTunes: Sing, Sing, Sing by Chris Tomlin, Runby Hillsong United; Gloryby Hillsong; Hosannaby Hillsong United; How He Loves by David Crowder Band. Read: Romans 11:33-34; Job 26:13-14; Isaiah 29:16, 64:8 Think: Romans 11:33 says "How impossible it is for us to understand God's decisions and his ways!" My guess is you've already discovered that truth as you've walked through this life. Maybe you've tried to figure out the formula for how the Lord works, but you can't get a handle on how he operates. And you certainly can't figure out what to expect. You aren't alone. If you are like most of us you've come across situations that seem to contradict what we know of God. But like it or not, that's how he works - his ways are mysterious, and he often does the unexpected. We can't change that. It is really a great moment when we finally grasp the fact we can't explain the will of God or the why behind his actions. Because it is then that we realize it's not our job! Our job is to obey what he says and leave the rest to him. Do: Remember again who God is, and who we are in relation to him. He's the potter and we are the clay. (Isaiah 64:8) Pray: God, forgive me that I think I deserve to understand your ways, or that you owe me an explanation for why things happen the way they do. Father, help me to trust you and to see your heart for me so that I can know again you are right in all you do. Amen. The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church. |
