Think: There will come a time when your marriage hits a point where the sparks decrease, when the honeymoon fades and routines become preference. It may go something like this; you wake up, get ready for work, go to work, come home, eat dinner with minimal conversation with your spouse, go to sleep and it starts over the next day.
The good news is, you aren't necessarily on the brink of divorce. The bad news is, your marriage is mediocre. The worse news is, you're not alone. Many couples are okay with having a mediocre marriage. As long as there are no big conflicts, affairs, illnesses, things seem bearable.
What if you could go back to the beginning? When your marriage was exciting, adventurous, fun and filled with butterflies? This is what God wants for your life. God doesn't want you to have just any life but life that is lived to the fullest. Together!
There are aspects that can rob the joy out of any marriage and mediocrity being the biggest enemy! But, know that as you seek God as a couple, God stir up a spirit of joy that makes marriages fulfilling. This is the kind of marriage God intends for you. Fulfilled. Exciting. Adventurous and the best part is- it's not too late.
Be angry at mediocrity- angry enough to do something about it. Begin with prayer and ask God to ignite a life that is lived to the fullest. Because. nothing. else. will. do.
Do: Grab your spouse, best-friend, family member and do 1 thing out of the ordinary this week. Something exciting and crazy!
Pray: God, help me to not be okay with a mediocre marriage. Help ignite passion, excitement and joy!
The eDevotional is written each week by a team of volunteers from Timberlake Church.
