Day 3 - He Sees Even Me
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. ~ 2 Chronicles 16:9a
Come near to God and he will come near to you. ~ James 4:8a
Today’s Bible Reading: Acts 3
When we read the Bible there are things our finite brains can’t quite understand about our infinite God… One thing that is amazing is how God works on this big, grand scale but also at the micro level at the same time. He is attentive to the global, yet He sees the individual. How do we get our minds around that!?!
Over and over we see in Scripture how God works and whole nations are affected, times the entire earth is impacted, instances where He provides rescue for whole populations. But then at the very same time - maybe even more so - He sees the person… the one with a broken heart, a need, a doubt that needs answering, and He moves in a way that reveals His care.
There are so many accounts of this throughout the Bible! A few that come to mind: The healing of Naaman from leprosy (2 Kings 5), the woman in the crowd who touches Jesus’ cloak and is healed from a long time illness (Mark 5:24-34), Jesus care and comfort for Mary and Martha at the death of their brother (and He throws in a miraculous resurrection for Lazarus while He’s there) (John 11). And still today we see God touching lives of people around us, even right here at Timberlake Church. The videos we see most weekends tell us those stories. Josh’s testimony video this weekend was a great example!
In those seasons of life where you feel like God is far off, maybe thinking He’s too busy dealing with the big problems of the world to help you, remember Naaman, the woman reaching for Jesus, the mourning Mary and Martha and the dead Lazarus... and remember our own Josh and God’s intervention in his life. They all received a special touch from the God who works in the Big and Grand… and the small and personal. Jesus is still the same today. He knows your need and He has something for you, too if you'll just reach out to Him.
Prayer: Father I’m so grateful you know me and you know what I’m going through. I ask today, that you would work in a special way in the middle of this situation… that You would work a miracle and that You would do what only You can do! I trust you Lord and wait for You to work. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
