READ: 2 Timothy 3:10-17

THINK: I took a road trip with my daughter – and we used my GPS to guide us as we drove each day. The voice told us which road to follow and when and where to make each turn. Whenever we didn’t follow the guidance system, sometimes accidentally sometimes on purpose, the voice would say, “Recalculating.” Then it would tell us how to get back on the right road. That’s a little bit how the Holy Spirit works in the whole idea of second chances for us…

Second Timothy 3:16 describes the Bible as a spiritual navigation system for life. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” What we believe as Christ followers tells us which road to travel; reproof tells us when we are off the road; correction tells us how to get back on; instruction in righteousness tells us how to stay on God’s road.

The mistakes and choices that detour us from the Lord shouldn’t be taken lightly. But failure isn't often fatal and few decisions are final. That’s the second chances we’ve been talking about ---The moment we veer off on our own, the Holy Spirit is “recalculating” and encouraging and guiding us to return to the Father’s way.

DO: If we’ve drifted off course, there’s no better time than right now to follow God’s voice and return to His road.

PRAY: Holy Spirit – help me and guide me as I seek to live this life according to the Father’s will. Show me when I’m off course and lead me back on track. I want to follow God’s good and perfect plan for my life. Help me to do that today! Amen.
